The sporting world has once more been sent into a frenzy as a result of the official Madden NFL ratings. Fans argue nonstop about some numbers that Electronic Arts (EA) came up with as if they were ancient stone tablet etchings that must agree with one another, and it has reached the point where it is almost a tradition.
To be fair, the majority of Madden NFL 23's rankings weren't all that far off from the real deal. Everything was good to go with the highest-rated quarterbacks, wide receivers, edge rushers, running backs, cornerbacks, and defensive linemen, as well as the additions to the 99 club and the overall team statistics. On the other hand, as is customarily the case, there were a few ratings that were dubious, absent, or flat-out contentious. Our buddies over at For The Win have already broken down their choices for the players they believe are the most overrated and the most underrated, but the nerds here at GLHF couldn't resist the urge to make our own list! You will find a list of ten players who, for one reason or another, we believe should have higher overall ratings (OVR) in Madden NFL 23, and that list can be found below.
Trevon Diggs enjoyed a season that was historically significant for him in 2021. When we talk about this player, we're referring to the one who had a total of 11 interceptions, which was the most any player had gotten since 1981 (17 years before he was born). Therefore, Diggs's rating ought to be higher than 84.
Although Kamara's rating is not something to be laughed at, it is a little bit on the low side. After all, this man set a record by becoming the athlete in the history of the NFL with the quickest combined total of 3,000 yards in rushing and receiving. In addition to this, he has been nominated for the Pro Bowl for the past five years in a row, which brings his total to five. At this point, you are probably understanding what it is that we are trying to convey to you.
Wilson is at a stage in his career where he is still considered relatively young. Keep in mind that he just started playing professionally a year ago and was the most highly regarded quarterback prospect for the 2021 NFL Draft. Although his season wasn't exactly a shining example of excellence, his score of 73 places him well outside of the top 20 quarterbacks in the league. A little too severe, don't you think?
We are aware that Tyrann Mathieu's current score of 94 places him in an impressively high position. However, as a great number of fans have probably pointed out, he ought to be higher. To the tune of at least a couple of points! Before signing with the Saints in 2022, he spent the majority of that year as a free agent, which is fair given the circumstances. Again, it seems that EA takes into account factors like that while doing the calculations.
Many people have the opinion that Najee Harris was unfairly overlooked because he was not ranked among the top 10 running backs in Madden NFL 23. During the previous season, he finished in second place for advanced rushing and broke 30 tackles. Madden 23 sell coins (find a good store)'s absurd that such low numbers would result in such a low placement; the numbers speak for themselves.
Another rookie who, in the opinion of the vast majority of people, is ranked lower than they should be. Although a score of 76 isn't terrible, many people are questioning the validity of his speed rating of 91. Breece was upset that Electronic Arts did not even place him in the top ten of the fastest running backs in the game.
During the 2021 season, Hurts had one of the few strong openings available for a quarterback position. After guiding the Eagles to victory over the Atlanta Falcons, he also contributed to the team's victories over the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers, which ultimately led to the Eagles securing a spot in the playoffs. Who knows how much higher up the rankings he could have been if he hadn't suffered an ankle injury at such an inopportune time?
McCaffrey is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best running backs in the game. His rating is evidence of this, but as everyone is aware, he missed two games because of a particularly nasty hamstring injury. It's possible that he would have moved up the veteran rankings and passed Nick Chubb if that hadn't happened. The question that needs to be answered right now is whether or not he will be able to rediscover the qualities that made him such a formidable opponent in 2019 and 2020.
Maxx Crosby, of the Las Vegas Raiders, has an overall rating of 87.
There are a lot of people who think that Crosby ought to have been one of the top 10 edge rushers in Madden NFL 23
In 2021, he established a number of personal records, some of which included the number of assisted tackles, combined tackles, and solo tackles he made
It is an accomplishment that deserves a lot of praise
Unfortunately, none of it was sufficient to raise his 89 to a 90, and he received an overall score of 89
So near, yet still so far away
Minkah Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh Steelers, OVR 89 This is probably the most interesting interpretation of this list. The majority of long-time fans are unable to decide whether or not Fitzpatrick is deserving of an 89, which is especially surprising given that he spent a significant portion of the previous season on the reserve list. That doesn't make his previous successes any less impressive, though! In addition, it is entertaining to close a discussion of this nature with a provocative point of view.
